Maldives Correctional Service holds flag hoisting ceremony at Male’ Prison to celebrate anniversary

Maldives Correctional Service has held a flag hoisting ceremony at 6 am this morning at Male’ Prison to celebrate the Prison’s eighth anniversary.

The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham who took brief glimpse at the history of Male’ Prison and stated that in the beginning, the Prison was too small to house inmates and was at the receiving end of many complaints from the public. He also said that due to the effort of the Director of DPRS at the time; Male’ Prison of today was developed.

In addition to the Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal, the Director of Male’ Prison Superintendent of Prisons Moosa Anwar and senior officials from other prisons and Head Office also participated in the ceremony.

Under the guidance of Chief Prisons Officer Ibrahim Afeef, the officers of Male’ Prison also took a solemn oath in honour of the occasion.

The ceremony was concluded with the cutting of the special cake by the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Director of Male’ Prison and all other officers present at the ceremony.
