Commissioner of Prison Ahmed Shihan has stated that additional Ahuluveri Marukazs are to be opened in the future. CP Shihan made the statement last night while speaking as the chief guest at the anniversary celebration of Ahuluveri Marukaz.
CP Shihan said that the opening of Ahuluveri Marukaz where inmates are given taught skills and provided with allowance-based jobs is a realisation of a long-held dream and wants inmates to be trained in industrial field and work in the community.
CP Shihan also said that more Ahuluveri Marukazs are to be opened in near future where various other areas of work will be carried out and the inclusion of inmates in these projects will bring a positive change in them. MCS Thilafushi Ahuluveri Marukaz is a centre where rehabilitation activities broadened in the form of industrial projects. CP also said that It is a great opportunity for inmates as it enables inmates to earn a good allowance-based income while serving their time in prison.
CP Shihan additionally said that he expects inmates currently working at MCS Ahuluveri Marukaz to save part of their allowances and that by the time they are able to rejoin the society and families after completing their sentences, they would be able to take with them a substantial amount of their income.
