Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has last night held the passing out ceremony for graduates of the second batch of “Custodial Management and Security Programme” at Maafushi Prison.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Minister of Home Affairs, Honourable Azleen Ahmed.
The ceremony was also attended by the Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal, Executive Director of ICOST SPO Ahmed Shahid, directors of prisons, commissioned officers and several prison officers.
The certificates for the graduates were handed over by the Chief Guest, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan and Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal.
All 29 recruits of the second batch of “Custodial Management and Security Programme” had successfully completed the programme and received certificates.
The “Best All-rounder” of the programme was Prison Private Abdulla Nazeef.
The programme is mandatory for all new recruits of Maldives Correctional Service. The four-month course was conducted in four semesters. Semester one included physical and practical classes while semester two focused on teaching laws and regulations, local orders and manuals. The third semester consisted of experiencing what was taught in the first two semesters by conducting scenarios and workplace observation. The fourth and final semester included actually working at the prisons.
