Prison Club (PRC) of Maldives Correctional has today begun the “PRC Football Tournament 2017” at K. Himmafushi.
The Chief Guest of the function was Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zilaal. The inauguration function was also joined by President of the Himmafushi Council Mr Shan Ibrahim and members of Council, senior officials of DRC and the Himmafushi Police Station In-Charge. In addition, respected members of Himmafushi also joined the function.
This is the first-ever tournament PRC is organising and the purposes of the Tournament are to create friendliness and sports spirit among officers and staff of Male’ Prison, Hulhumale’ Detention Centre and Head Office; to engage them in sports activities and to provide the opportunity for football players to show their skill. As per PRC, the tournament will also help to maintain the mental and physical health of staff and officers.
A total of five teams are participating in the Tournament, Maafushi Prison, Asseyri Prison, Male’ Prison, Team HQ and ESG.
The Tournament will proceed in the manner of leagues, the four teams with the highest points will move on the 2nd round. The two teams with the highest points will move on to the final. League championship will go to the team with the highest points during the first round.
