Maldives Correctional Service has yesterday commenced classes at Maafushi Prison to develop prisons officers educationally.
The classrooms were inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Azleen Ahmed.
While speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister said that it was very important for prison officers to strive to be educationally-capable for performing their duties.
These classes consist of subjects such as Dhivehi, Islam, English, Mathematics and Accounts.
Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) also informs that the purpose of these classes is to develop the capabilities and performance of officers.
The classes are conducted by ICOST in association with Institute for Quran and Sunnah.
