“PRC Badminton Tournament 2017” organised by the Prison Recreation Club has concluded last night. The Tournament was held at the indoor badminton court of Maafushi Prison.
The Singles champion of the Tournament is First Class Prison Officer Hussain Seeniyaz while the Double Champions were Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza and First Class Prison Officer Hussain Seeniyaz.
The Singles final match, which was held last Tuesday night was won by First Class Prison Officer Hussain Seeniyaz after winning two sets with scores of 21-7 and 21-13 and defeating Sergeant Anwar Moosa.
Last night’s Doubles final match saw Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Riza and First Class Prison Officer Hussain Seeniyaz defeat Chief Prisons Officer Ahmed Abdul Wahhab and Prison Lance Corporal Ali Amjad by two sets with a score of 21-14 and 21-16.
Following the final match, trophies, medals and certificates were handed over to winners and notable players at the closing ceremony of the Tournament. The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Superintendent of Prisons Mohamed Ibrahim Didi.
The Tournament was open for all employees of Maldives Correctional Service and 12 employees had participated in the singles category while seven teams had participated in the doubles category.
