The Deputy Director of Maafushi Prison Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Abdulla Ameen has stated that the family meeting area currently under construction at the prison will be functional around mid August.
ASP Abdulla Ameen said that once the family meeting area is complete, the area will be more spacious than the current meeting area and it the new area will be more convenient for inmates, families and officers as well.
He additionally said that while the current meeting area accommodates up to five families, the new meeting area that is being constructed will be able to accommodate up to 10 families.
The construction work is being carried out by the inmates of Maafushi Prison.
