The fourth batch of Qirat Course Level 2 and Basic Quran Course starts at Maafushi Prison

Maldives Correctional Service strives to rehabilitate inmates and to improve their behaviour and ‎lifestyle by providing them with good education by conducting various programmes. Several courses ‎on Islam and Quran are conducted through Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) to orient and ‎foster religious knowledge in inmates. In that regard, the fourth batch of Qirat Course Level 2 and ‎Basic Quran Class commenced yesterday at Maafushi Prison.‎

A total of 22 inmates have participated in the four-month Qirat Course level two, while the five-week ‎Basic Quran Class has 35 participants. ‎

The participants of Qirat Course level 2 will be taught the makhraj and characteristics of all the letters ‎of Arabic alphabet, the regular makhraj and particulars, how to properly pronounce the diacritics ‎‎(i’ijam, tashkeel and harakat), to recite with with makhraj from Surat Al-Naba to Surat Al-Nasi and ‎byheart with makhraj from Surat Al-Qashiyah to Surat Al-Nasi.‎

The Basic Quran Class includes teaching how to move the participants’ mouths to properly pronounce ‎the diacritics (i’ijam, tashkeel and harakat), makhraj of all the letters of Arabic alphabet and to practice ‎reciting the Holy Quran as per the kalimas. The participants who successfully complete the Basic Quran ‎Class will have the opportunity to join Qirat Course level 1. ‎
The two courses are conducted in collaboration with Institute for Holy Quran and Sunnah.‎
