Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan has tonight departed for Malaysia on a four-day official visit.
During the visit, the Commissioner is scheduled to meet Malaysia’s Commissioner General of Prisons Dato’ Sri Hj. Zulkifli bin Omar. The purpose of the scheduled meeting is to further develop the close ties between Maldives Correctional Service and Malaysia Prison Department. Commissioner Shihan will also work to increase the number of opportunities for training prison officers currently being provided under the “Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP)”.
In addition, the Commissioner will also visit a few prisons to see their day-to-day operations.
The Malaysian Commissioner General had visited Maldives last May on an unofficial visit.
