Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) in association with Institute for Quran and Sunnah has yesterday started Basic Quran Class for inmates and the sixth batch of Qirat Course Level 1 at Maafushi Prison.
A total of 35 inmates are participating in the sixth batch of the two-month Qirat Course level 1 while another batch of 35 inmates are participating in the Basic Quran Class, a class which basically prepares participants for the Qirat Course.
Institute for Correctional Studies is currently also conducting different courses for inmates, such as three Qari-Lev courses, Hifz Classes, Islam classes as well as agriculture Courses, sewing courses and computer courses.
Maldives Correctional Service continues to work on broadening its programmes to rehabilitate inmates for successful reintegration into society.
