A fire incident has occurred last night around 2:57 am at the shop at Maafushi Prison. The fire was put out by theFire Team of Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) after combating it for about 30 minutes.
Maafushi Prison informs that the incident has fully burned the shop and the godown next door. In addition, the Prison also informs that a staff accommodation block in the vicinity has also been damaged beyond use; though no persons were harmed during the fire incident.
Teams from MNDF and Police are present at the scene to investigate the incident.
