Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) will always be ready for action or scenario without any hesitation and stand true to serving the country patriotically; the priority being the responsibilities mandated to MCS by the law.
The most notable accomplishments to improving the prison system are the education and training provided in order to develop custodial management skills among prison officers and the introduction of modern technology at prisons. All current prison officers have undergone custodial management training in Male’ or abroad.
Through these trainings, a most important step was taken to form Emergency Support Group (ESG). Following the formation of ESG, the once-lost control of prisons had finally come under the prison officers and made them more independent.
Maldives Correctional Service is currently conducting elite trainings for ESG and will be working to improve their skills in trainings such as crowd controlling techniques and how to proceed in emergency situations.
In the seven years since ESG’s formation, the Group has achieved several accomplishments and experiences, including testing times through the changes brought to the prison system. ESG had proved that it was formed on a solid foundation. Several parties have unsuccessfully tried to influence ESG over the years.
Every officer and staff of Maldives Correctional Service is undoubtedly proud of the experienced and strong ESG that we see today.
