MCS commences 19th batch of Rehabilitation Framework Phases 1

Maldives Correctional Services has commenced Phase 1 of Rehabilitation Framework for the 19th batch of inmates at Maafushi Prison today.

There are a total of 55 inmates in the 19th batch.

The Rehabilitation Framework is part of Maldives Correctional Service’s (MCS) efforts to rehabilitate offenders and provide them educational opportunities.

The purpose of introducing the four-phased Rehabilitation Framework is to reform inmates by educating and teaching them useful skills which can help them earn a living upon their released from prison.

The Framework consists of four main phases; phase 1 to build “Discipline” among inmates, Phase 2 to provide “Psychology programmes”, Phase 3 to provide “Educational and Vocational” opportunities and “Prison Community Service”.
