Hulhumale’ Detention Centre Team has beaten Medic and Unit SO Team with an impressive 22 goals at last night’s match of the Escort Challenge Football Tournament held at the football field of Male’ Prison.
The winning team had shown extraordinary skill and the 22 goals scored by the Team were totalled by Ismail Mohamed’s eight goals, Hussain Sobah’s seven goals, Hassan Nashid’s six goals and Abdulla Jameel’s one goal. The Medic and Unit SO Team’s single goal was scored by Mohamed Ameez.
Commenting on the match, Medic and Unit SO Team’s Coach, Prisons Lance Corporal Ali Asrath said that though his team had made a decent effort, the winning team had played quite a formidable game. He also said that he is proud to have given new players the opportunity to play in the match. He further said that it was not too upset to lose the match and congratulated Hulhumale’ Detention Centre Team for their win.
When contacted for a comment on the loss, Head of Medical Department, Chief Prisons Officer Abdul Gadir declined to comment on the match.
The Coach of Hulhumale’ Detention Centre Team, Chief Prisons Officer Ismail Naseer said that his team played a remarkable and exquisite game and that the opposing team needed more practice.
The two semi-final matches are scheduled for tonight. FC Bravo will play against HQ Team in the first match while Hulhumale’ Detention Centre Team will face FC Charlie in the second match.
