A foreigner remanded at Male’ Prison pending trial passes away while receiving treatment at IGMH

A 50 year-old Bangladeshi remanded at Male’ Prison pending trail, MD Aktar Hossain; has passed away early morning on 18th November 2021 while receiving treatment at IGMH for chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

MD Aktar Hossain was playing cards at his cell when he suddenly complained of chest pains and difficulty in breathing. He was shortly rushed to IGMH and started treatment.

The Hospital informed that he died following a heart attack.

MD Aktar Hossain was remanded pending trial on a murder case.

The Inspector of Correctional Service, Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, Maldives Police Service and National Integrity Commission were subsequently informed of MD Aktar Hossain’s admittance at IGMH.
