Vocational, Agricultural and Labor department of Maafushi Prison in association with Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) has started an agricultural workshop for inmates working in agricultural field, yesterday.
The workshop is programed to continue until 16th of March 2019.
In this workshop, inmates will be given information about effective planting methods, plant food, how to prepare the soil, and plant diseases and how to prevent and cure them. They were also taught preventive measures while handling plant medicines.
The main purpose of this workshop is to help inmates to change and improve their thinking, behavior and actions for the better, and to teach them solid skills to earn an honest living after they are released back to the society.
