Maldives Correctional Service has today commenced the fifth batch of Certificate 1 Sewing course for inmates at Maafushi Prison.
The five-week course is accredited by Maldives Qualifications Authority and the participants are female inmates who are taking part in the third phase of Rehabilitation Framework.
A total of two modules will be taught during the course and participants who complete this course will know how to cut and sew pillows, pillow cases, bed sheets, pants with elastic waistbands, shorts and cushions. Participants who complete this course will have the opportunity to participate in Certificate II in Sewing.
Rehabilitation Framework includes four phases and the Phase 3 includes rehabilitation by providing educational and vocational programmes that can be useful in everyday life.
