ICOST starts Agricultural course for inmates by collaborating with Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture

Maldives Correctional Service in collaboration with Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has today started “Certificate 1 in Starting Agriculture Course at Maafushi Prison.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the course, Senior Prison Officer Ahmed Shahid stated that it is very important for all participants to attend the sessions regularly and other inmates also had the opportunity of participating in such courses.

The five-week course will be conducted by experienced staff from Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture and consists of 10 modules including practical and theory classes. 32 inmates are participating in the course along with three prison officers.

Maldives Correctional Service continues to conduct various programmes to rehabilitate inmates for successful reintegration into society.
