Rehabilitation Framework: Phase ‎‏2‏‎ starts at Maafushi Prison‏ ‏for female ‎inmates

Maldives Correctional Service has yesterday commenced Rehabilitation Framework: Phase 2 programmes for female inmates at Maafushi Prison.

The Programme will be conducted by lecturers from Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) and facilitators from Maafushi Prison

Phase 2 will go on for three months and is joined by 37 inmates that have completed Phase 1.

The objective of the second Phase, Psychology Programmes; is to foster constructive skills among participants as well as positively change and improve their thinking to help them reform and lead a good life once they are released from prison. This Phase also helps participants to identify life goals of and how to prepare themselves to achieve these goals. Those who complete Phase 2 will move on to Phase 3.

Maldives Correctional Service continues to work towards rehabilitating inmates by shaping programmes to discourage their return to prison, make them capable individuals and create a safe environment for them.
