Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has today commenced a Sign Language Programme for the prison officers at Maafushi Prison.
The purpose of the four-week programme is to teach prison officers to communicate with inmates that are hearing and speech impaired. A total of 30 prison officers are taking part in the programme.
The programme is organised by the Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) and conducted by an experienced facilitator.
