Maldives Correctional Service has yesterday started classes for inmates as part of their efforts to reform inmates into educated citizens who are worthy to be accepted back into the community. These classes are being held at Maafushi Prison.
These classes are being held to prepare inmates to take the Secondary School certificate exams in 2017. 26 inmates are taking part in the Dhivehi and Islam classes, while those interested of the 26 inmates will have the chance to enroll in the English and Mathematics classes.
The Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service conducts these classes with the collaboration of Institute for Quran and Sunnah.
