Asseyri Prison of Maldives Correctional Service has held a special function last night for participating teams to draw lotsfor the “Prisco Asseyri Prison Cup 2016” Futsal Tournament.
The chief guest of the function was Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Shihan.
The purposes of the Tournament are to create friendliness and sports spirit among officers and staff of Asseyri Prison and to maintain the mental and physical health of staff and officers at the Prison.
The tournament is held by Asseyri Prison each year and this year’s tournament is to be held from 20th to 26th October 2016 at Asseyri Prison.
A total of five teams are participating in the Tournament; Team Sunray, Team Oscar, Team Recon, Team Raiders and Team Yankee.
The each team will play against each other and the leading four teams will move on to the semi-finals. The two winning teams of the semi-finals will move on to the finals to fight for the championship, while the second runner-up team will be chosen after a match between the two losing teams of semi-finals.
The first match will see Team Sunray against Team Yankee, while the second match scheduled today will be Team Raiders vs Team Recon.
