Maldives Correctional Service has today commenced the third batch of “Certificate 1 Sewing” course for inmates at Maafushi Prison.
The five-week course is registered at Maldives Qualifications Authority and a total of 20 inmates participated in the course. The classes will be conducted in two batches of 10. Participants who complete this course will know how to cut and sew pillows, pillow cases, bed sheets, pants with elastic waistbands, shorts and cushions.
The Institute for Correctional Studies (ICOST) of Maldives Correctional Service is currently conducting several more courses for inmates, such as Qirat course level 1, 2&3, Hifz classes, Basic Quran classes and computer courses.
Maldives Correctional Service continues to work on broadening its programmes to rehabilitate inmates for successful reintegration into society.
