Officers and staff of Head Office and prisons holds a special “work day” to speed up the work of Maafushi Prison boundary wall

Officers and staff of Head Office and prisons has held a special “work day” yesterday to speed up the work of Maafushi Prison boundary wall.

During yesterday’s work, 150 feet long ditches were dug out for the building of the wall.

The boundary wall is to be 20 feet high and 1.4 kilometres long. The foundation for the wall was laid by Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Umar Naseer on 26th October 2014.

The work of the wall is being mainly carried out by inmates under the supervision of Maldives Correctional Service.

The work day was joined  by officers and staff of Head Office, Male’ Prison, Asseyri Prison and Hulhumale’ Detention Centre.
