MCS celebrates 48th anniversary colourfully

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has celebrated 48th anniversary at a ceremony held at Maafushi Prison last night.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Minister of Home Affairs Honorouble Imran Abdulla. 

The ceremony included the awarding of plaques of appreciation to prison officers and staff who had served MCS for a long time, while few prison officers also received promotion.

While speaking at the ceremony, the chief guest wished the Commissioner and all present on the occasion of the anniversary. He stated that in comparison to earlier times, the condition of the prisons have changed considerably and with the formulation of laws and regulations, MCS has now become a custodian that manages the prison and also work to reform the prisoners. He also noted that some of the points for improvement highlighted following an audit have been implemented already.

Commissioner Munaz said that the unity of employees, sincerity, full utilisation of their learned skills in organising and executing their duties, orientation of laws and regulation and respecting the said laws are qualities that are required for the progress of the Institution. He also thanked all present for their service and support.

The colourful ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr Ali Nazeer, Inspector of Correctional Service Mr Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, directors of prisons and senior management, commissioned officers, prison officers and civil staff.
